Cookie Policy
The cookies we use, what they do, and how to change your choices.
Last updated 2 October 2026.
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We keep them to a minimum: a few essential ones, one optional preference, and Google Analytics only if you say yes.
Essential cookies (always on)
These make the site work and can't be switched off. They don't track you around the web.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
sv_consent | Remembers your cookie choice so we don't keep asking. | 12 months |
.AspNetCore.Antiforgery.* | Protects forms (guestbook, feedback, enquiries) from being submitted by other sites. | Until you close your browser |
.AspNetCore.Mvc.CookieTempDataProvider | Carries a short confirmation message between pages after you submit a form. | Until you close your browser |
.AspNetCore.Cookies | Keeps site staff signed in. Only set when a staff member signs in — never for ordinary visitors. | Up to 30 days |
Preference cookie
Set only when you use a feature that needs to remember your setting.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
sv_contrast | Remembers that you turned on high-contrast mode. | 12 months |
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If you accept, Google Analytics (measurement ID G-BT9DD2XZES) sets these cookies to count visits and see which pages are
used. The information is sent to Google, which may process it in the United States. If you reject, none of this loads, and if you
change your mind later we remove the cookies.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells one visitor from another so visits can be counted. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_BT9DD2XZES | Keeps track of a single browsing session. | Up to 2 years |
Contact forms (spam protection)
The contact page, and the “ask us” form at the bottom of the FAQ page, use Google reCAPTCHA to stop automated spam. It only
loads on those pages, and on the FAQ page only once you start filling in the form. To do its job Google may set its own
cookie or store a small token in your browser (for example _GRECAPTCHA), and it receives your IP address and some
details about your browser and how you use the page. We treat this as necessary for security; Google's
Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and
Terms (opens in a new tab) apply.
Other third-party requests
Even without cookies, your browser contacts a few outside services to show the page: Google Fonts (typefaces), jsDelivr and Cloudflare cdnjs (design and icon libraries) and, on The Villa page, OpenFreeMap (map tiles). They can see your IP address when they do. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop forms on the site from working.
